Simon Tedeschi performs Gershwin in Cooma

Described as one of the finest musicians of his generation, concert pianist Simon Tedeschi first performed at the Sydney Opera House at the age of nine. He was 25 years old when he first performed in Cooma, in 2006.

Snowy Monaro Arts Council, in association with Musica Viva, is very proud to be presenting Simon for his return visit to Cooma on Friday 25 July.

Simon has expertly interpreted the works of Grieg, Mozart, Shostakovich, Tchaikovsky and even today’s composers such as Elfman. However, this month’s performance will focus on the music of the great George Gershwin and on Gershwin-inspired pieces, as part of Simon’s “Gershwin and Me” concert.

Of his performances of Gershwin’s music critics have pronounced:

“…he is an experienced performer of Gershwin. He is adept at revealing the surprise of the new…” (December, 2013); and

“Simon Tedeschi joins the pantheon of [the] Gershwin gods… Beguiling…” (March 2013).

Of the release of his album ‘Gershwin and me’ it was said “…Tedeschi delivers a rarity: a high-energy Gershwin disc that can stand tall among the finest that America has to offer… it is Tedeschi as soloist who must be singled out for distinct praise… [he] finds much that is refreshing, offering a new take upon the familiar” (March 2013).

The 25 July concert begins at 7:30pm, at the St Paul’s Anglican Parish Hall, on Commissioner Street in Cooma. Tickets should be purchased early and are available at The Fabric Salon, Cooma.
